A wildlife technician needs self-management skills. You're turned loose out here! Somebody who's lazy isn't going to get the job done; so you definitely need to be a person who takes responsibility for yourself and what you do. Problem solving and leadership skills are important here; they're important in any job.

Negotiating is one of the most important skills for somebody interested in being a wildlife technician. In the summer, wild Canadian geese that can't fly become a nuisance to some people; so they call us to remove the geese. When we go out to remove them, though, other people see us, and they get mad about our disturbing the wildlife. You can't win in that kind of situation.
