| While
in high school, I took honors courses and planned to go
on to college, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study.
During my senior, year I needed another credit for graduation,
which happened to be an accounting class that I really enjoyed.
I had always liked organizing things, and even though math
wasn’t my best subject, I decided to major in accounting.
If I had known earlier that accounting was going to be my
career choice, I would have looked into courses available
at the high school’s career center. |

When
I graduated from West-Oak High School in 1994, I enrolled
at Tri-County Technical College because I wanted to save
money on college. I earned an Associate Degree in accounting
in 1997. I did well in my classes and was hired by Tri-County
in August of 1997. While working at Tri-County I had the
opportunity to pursue a second Associate Degree.
In
1998, I completed my Associate Degree in Business Management,
and I accepted a position at McCall, Sherrill, and Company,
where I've been working as a staff accountant ever since.
Even though I am satisfied with where I am, I am interested
in earning a Bachelor’s Degree and, eventually, a Master’s.
I'd like to be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) some
day.
