Career Spotlight _ Rachel Lee

It’s very important that nurses understand how to function as part of a team because nursing is just one component of complete patient care. To optimize patient care, nurses collaborate with respiratory therapists, doctors, physical therapists, and others. Decision-making skills are also very important for a registered nurse.

You can’t be squeamish and be a nurse. You get to see the inner workings of the body. For example, in a heart catheterization, they put dye into the heart and you can actually see its inner chambers. I love physiology. I enjoy learning about the different systems of the body- how, if something goes wrong in one system, it can throw everything else out of whack.
