If you’re planning, you’re learning!
“Learning is not compulsory, but neither is survival.” --W. Edwards Deming
Of course, we can’t plan effectively if we don’t understand the realities of life, and more specifically, the realities of the world of work! Our children need information in order to plan and make decisions. Most young people don’t understand what it takes to be successful in today’s world. They don’t understand that career planning is a process that occurs over time, not a single event. But it can be fun and full of self-discovery, too!
So, as you and your child make your way through this process, you will be amazed at what you learn about each other, as well as about the world of work, and about all the educational options that are available to young, and older, people today! Each step of the planning process, you will learn so much about your child’s personality and what makes him happy. You’ll learn so much about the world of work -- how it has changed in the last twenty-five years and what employers expect their employees to know and be able to do. You will learn that there are many ways to achieve the education and skills employers are requiring for jobs today. And most importantly, if you go through this website with your child, your child will learn these things too and be more prepared, armed with information he needs, to make wise decisions about his future career!
